Winding and knitting: We recommend winding the silk by hand as it is very "alive" and can easily tangle or snag. We also recommend alternating between the skeins when knitting to avoid pooling and to achieve a more even appearance in your work, since silk absorbs dye very differently.
AKW scale: A
Our silk is 100% Mulberry Silk and some of the best on the market. It is knitted on needles 3 - 4. Wooden needles are recommended as silk can be slippery to work with. The silk is rated AKW scale A, which means it is suitable for allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin. This is a product we primarily stock in spring and summer, so it's important to buy enough for your project. It is perfect for summer sweaters, summer tops and shawls.
