Mink yarn comes from mink that are gently sheared, so no mink are killed! The fibers are very soft but very short, so they are often spun with other fibers to make the yarn durable enough to knit with. It can be knit with a single strand into a lovely shawl or with two strands into a cozy sweater. There isn't much mink yarn on the market, so you get a truly unique product here that is also hand-dyed - win win......
